Food Security – It’s
Everybody’s Business!
| In August 2005, Food Security
Network of Newfoundland & Labrador received
funding for a project called “Food Security:
It’s Everybody’s Business!” The primary project
funder is the Public Health Agency of Canada
(Atlantic Region), with additional funding from
a provincial Wellness Grant. This federal and
provincial support has enabled us to become
a truly provincial organization. |

The project involves two central goals:
- to bring people together in communities all
around the province to talk about food security;
to identify the various barriers to food security
in the different areas of the province
- to plan and implement a provincial Food
Security Assembly, a large-group gathering
and an action plan for the future of food security
here; to develop a collective vision for a food
secure province
